Smart TV’s have been around a while, but people still prefer the old formula of TV + set-up box and others keep recommending them as the best TV’s for Indians. There is a reason why India is so far behind compared to the west when it comes to innovation. One of the reasons is that Indian’s are far more reluctant to adopt new technology. The west first needs to test it there, prove that it works and then send it back to India.
It could simply be because Indian people don’t have the disposable income to spend on new technology. They’d much rather play it safe. That’s really good and smart but it also discourages innovation. To be fair, India is a country that has been looted for over a thousand years and it’s people are in general quite poor. This is the reason why Smart TV’s with all the new features, streaming and games are taking so long to get adopted.
The lack of money is also the reason why large screen televisions don’t see that much and people still prefer 32-inch LED Tv’s. Other new technologies like OLED, QLED are also getting adopted much slower than compared to west.
Even within the western countries it seems America adopts new technologies much faster than Europe and hence it’s in many ways, the cradle of innovation.
